School in Ecuador (Ages 18+)
The best way to learn Spanish is in a country where
it is spoken. CCI’s language school in Cuenca,
Ecuador includes 20 hours of class per week, room
and board with host families and a variety of activities
and excursions to help you make the most of your time
in Ecuador.
Known
for their hospitality and kindness, the 250,000 inhabitants
of Cuenca have successfully preserved its colonial
past with its cobbled streets, churches, pre-Hispanic
ruins and museums, and colorful Indian markets. Cuenca is actually
in an Andean valley and because of the height, the
city revels in a spring-like climate year round. Modern
office buildings, art galleries and two universities
make their home in Cuenca along with the rich history
and traditions of the Indian cultures. The Ingapirca
ruins and the Chordeleg craft villages are nearby,
as is Cajas Natural Park. You will find Cuenca a remarkable,
unspoiled haven with elegant surroundings and magnificent
scenic beauty where the people, particularly the host families, welcome you to their city. The program is perfect for participants wanting a very welcoming
and personal experience.
The school is located in the city center and has
8 classrooms and 12 teachers. There are only 5 students
per Spanish language class. The family-like atmosphere
here enhances the course work which includes a strong
cultural emphasis. There are no Spanish language classes
available for complete beginners. Participants must
be 18+.
