Volunteer
in India
Although the rapid growth of India’s economy has been making headlines in recent years, severe overpopulation, a rigid social structure and an ever-widening gap between rich and poor have led to a variety of social and humanitarian woes, from low quality education to lack of adequate health care. Our volunteer projects address these issues and provide participants with a means to help improve the lives of India’s people.
Orientation
Upon your arrival you will be picked up from the airport and have a full orientation and introduction to Indian life and culture. The duration of your orientation depends on your specific project. For longer orientation periods, a homestay with a local host family is included.
Accommodation
Volunteers stay in dorm-like accommodations with 2-4 roommates and common areas that include a television and a refrigerator. Three meals per day are prepared and provided by project staff. Some of the volunteer houses also offer daily Yoga classes. Depending on your project a 5 day intensive Yoga-training course or Indian cooking class may be included.
**Special Notes**
If you travel to Goa from June to mid-September you will encounter Monsoon rains. CCI takes every precaution to keep you safe and dry while you are traveling, however, the rain during this period is unavoidable and you should take that into consideration when planning your trip.

If you are interested in working closely with children during your time in India you must commit at least 4 weeks to your project. For volunteers committing less than 4 weeks, typical activities include construction, restoration, beautification of project area, and helping with outreach for educational health campaigns.
